I was absolutely honored to hear back from this family. I last worked with them a number of years ago and was thrilled to receive an email from them this fall. These kids were so perfect in front of the camera. Hope you enjoy the shots!
I shot one of the most beautiful weddings yesterday. I woke up feeling so inspired and excited to edit them. Here's a quick little preview to give you an idea of how perfect this couple is!
There will be a lot more of these to come. And not only of Kris, but also from Nora who both recently competed.
In my opinion "contrast" is one of the things that makes photography so beautiful. I had the pleasure of working with this great family a couple weeks ago, and it just so happened to be my first shoot with the new camera. It dawned on me very quickly during the shoot that there was a stunning contrast developing in the first few shots I captured. Here was this tiny little guy, seemingly wandering on his own, exploring a great big world where everything was... HUGE!
I'm the type of guy who really enjoys and appreciates each of the seasons we experience here in the Chicago area. But in my opinion, nothing beats the beauty of fall. I had such a great time with a number of great families over the past couple weekends and I wanted to share one last round of sneak peaks as I finish editing these beautiful sets of photos.
"The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand." - Vince Lombardi
Kris and Nora are two very close friends of mine. They also happen to be two of the most dedicated and hard working individuals I have ever met. In the year 2012 these two embarked on a new journey that has completely transformed the way they live their lives, they became bodybuilders. That journey did not simply stop after last year, they were right back at it in 2013 as both competed once again in the past couple of weeks. I had the honor of photographing both these two in what can simply be called their second home, Bucktown Fitness in Chicago, IL.
I'd also quickly like to promote Kris's business as he is a certified physical trainer in the Chicago area. If you are interested in learning more about what he offers be sure to check him out at www.facebook.com/daviafitness.
This here is one of my best friends Tim dressed as Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty. For more pictures of the Chiditarod check out my previous post.
Was able to take in my first game of what's shaping up to be a magical season at the United Center last night. Just wanted to share a couple of shots I got during the pregame skate.
On the verge of his 50th birthday, I'm going to quote one of my idols Michael Jordan, "Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen."
This quote has stuck with me for a very long time and is relevant in many aspects of my life. Whether it's my training goals in the gym or this photography business I'm trying to build up, one thing holds true, if you want something badly enough, you have to put in hard work and dedication to make it happen. Nothing ever comes easy.
I thought this would be the perfect introduction into highlighting one of my favorite photo shoots from this last year. I had the privilege to sit back and watch as two of my very good friends, Kris and Nora, transformed their bodies in ways I never knew was possible. They both embarked on the goal of becoming body builders. Since this blog post is supposed to highlight my photo-shoot with them I'll get on with the point and spoil the ending for you, they succeeded and blew past their goals as both received numerous accolades at the 2012 NPC Natural Mid-States Muscle Classic XXV Bodybuilding and Figure Championships in Rockford, IL.
We decided to set up this photo shoot for the day after their competition, since realistically, their bodies would be at their best during this time. So the very next morning, with trophies in hand, we headed down the street to Bucktown Fitness, their second home, and had some fun. One of the main reasons why I really enjoyed this photo shoot was the fact that we were all in our natural elements. For the most part there was no posing, no forced smiles, no do-overs because I missed a particular shot. It was simply the two of them going through a normal workout, and me just following them working on different angles and trying to capture the best light that was sneaking in through the windows. The fact that Kris and Nora are two great friends also made this shoot really easy as I didn't have to worry about trying out different things like climbing up on a half wall to get a shot straight down at Kris as he was doing leg press. Needless to say this shot didn't make the final cut, but it was still fun to try out. So here are my favorite shots from this incredible shoot.
