2012 - Top 3
This past year for me was really special. Even though I have had my camera since fall of 2010, it wasn't until this past year that I really put myself out there as a photographer. I made a conscious effort to make myself available for any type of photo shoots. I promoted myself through different mediums the most important being Facebook. And i gained a lot of experience which will go a long way in developing Miranda Photography.
I know these type of posts are usually done before the New Year, but i'm going to do mine right now. Here are my favorite 3 captures from the year 2012. Just to clarify, these aren't the best 3 photos I took, these are just the 3 that mean the most to me. Please leave your thoughts and comments below.
Shoes? Really? Shoes is one of your top 3 photos from the entire last year? The answer is yes. As most of you know, sports is another one of my true passions. This photo allowed me to combine 2 of the things that mean the most to me, photography and sport. To be more specific about this photo, these are actually the first shoes I ever purchased from an ACTUAL running store and they were the shoes I used when I competed in the 2012 Chicago Triathlon. On a much broader scale "product photography" is also something I am interested in and enjoy doing and I liked the lighting a lot in this photograph.
This Chicago landmark is probably one of the most photographed sites in the entire city. It truly is hard to get a photo of "The Bean" that doesn't look like a 1,000 other photos before it. But this was my first attempt at photographing Cloud Gate and I love this picture. The contrast is amazing, the movement of the people in the reflection gives this image life, and it represents the city I am most proud to call my own.
This here is Wrigley. Those little shoes were of his soon to be little companion Isabelle. The reason I like this photo so much is because of what I talked about in the first blog post, it's a special moment for this family. As is the case with most of us in our mid to late 20's. As we start to settle down and think about starting up our very own families we might, and usually do consider starting small... with of course a pet. I like to think of it as a little trial run just to make sure we are capable of actually providing for another living creature under our roofs. This picture to me symbolizes that transition into adulthood and I couldn't have been more happy with the way it turned out. I always love giving pets a voice in my head, and Wrigley for sure is thinking, "I don't think I like where this is going." This photo ranking in as my favorite also symbolizes how much I appreciate all my friends and family giving me my first shots. Thinking you for giving me the opportunity to capture these precious moments in all of your lives!
